Question: What extent are New Zealands Small Enterprises Enterprises with less than 20 employees more/less innovative than New Zealands Large Enterprises Enterprises with more than 100 employees? Provide examples of at least two Small New Zealand Enterprises and at least two Large New Zealand Enterprises. Answer: The subject business management and innovation goes through various aspects and the discussion needs to have practical examples of some small enterprises and some big enterprises. The research has considered two small enterprises with employee strength less than 20 namely Engage Solutions and Yabble along with two big enterprises with employee strength more than 100 namely ANZCO Foods Ltd and Ryman Healthcare Ltd. According to the Michael Porter, the definition of Innovation consists of the approaches an organization takes to move forward for achieving competitive advantages in a particular market and the path includes implementation of new technologies and out of the track though process of the management (Tidd, Bessant Pavitt, 2013). According to the author Peter Drucker, innovation is a precise instrument for the entrepreneurs and this helps to exploit the changes as opportunities and to grow their business with discipline and various other skills. The ANZCO Foods specializes on the food business with variety of beef and lamb recipes and they also specializes on different breeds of lamb and beefs (ANZCO Foods, 2017). The company has innovated various method of farming the lambs and beefs along with various recipes too. Ryman Healthcare Ltd is a healthcare solutions provider in New Zealand. The company has understood that, an unwell person cannot be cured only with medicines, they need an environmental changes to get recovered better. Along with that, the company has innovated various old age care solutions such as Retirement Village. They have innovated their business model as a mixture of property development and healthcare services (Ryman Healthcare, 2017). Whereas, Yabble, a small enterprise in New Zealand has creatively innovated the holiday programs of the kids learning sessions and hobby classes. The company has found that, the kids in their holidays or in the spare time use to do home works or watch TVs and play with local friends only. However, they can utilize the time by learning new arts and crafts or music or may be any other activity which can enhance their extracurricular skills along with let them found their hidden talents. The company encourages those kids to take various spots classes, Drama classes, Cooking classes, Science and technology, Crafts and many more through which they can learn new things in their spare times (Yabble, 2017). Another startup small enterprise Engage Solutions is working for the health and safety of the organizations through training and guidance. The company wants to make the employees of various companies engage with good health and safety profile that they can achieve their goals of career an d life successfully. For this purpose, they have innovated various training programs and operating their business with productive worker and highly valued organizations (Engage Solutions, 2017). The innovation is an organizational process which helps a company to grow in a market by scanning the internal and external environmental gaps, filtering and choosing prospective opportunities, acquiring the required financial, technical resources for the change and implementing the change and innovation by development of new strategic steps (Tidd, Bessant Pavitt, 2013). According to an article by Klewitz, eco-innovation, cleaner production are necessary for the sustainability of the firm and the products, process and the organizational structure gets influenced towards the success of the firm due to such various innovation (Klewitz, Hansen, 2014). The research concludes that, the innovation in various organizational processes such as production, management and marketing and distribution channel management are very necessary to get up to the industry standards and building unique image in the market (Klewitz, Hansen, 2014). The more proactive SME can have the more sustainability in its present market. According to an article by Roper, the SMEs are needed to focus on rapid innovation in their business process to get desired growth (Love Roper, 2015). The security of the firms future lies in developing innovative policies to maintain sustainable growth in the firm. According to an article by Vries, the study has focus on the public sector and the research suggests that, the public sector also needs to have innovation in various processes (De Vries, Bekkers Tummers, 2015). The research has reviewed the necessity of innovation in Process, Product or Service, Governance, Conceptuality and other various part of an organization. The rsearch shows that, the effectiveness and efficiency in innovation can help an organization to get the desired objectives in a systematic way (De Vries, Bekkers Tummers, 2015). According to another article by Ribeiro which has concluded various articles results in it, states that, the internal and external environmental factors have a big role in the innovation process of a firm. The research also concludes that, the critical success factors that drives the success in product innovation and other various developments includes the environmental revolutionary steps from a particular organization (De Medeiros, Ribeiro Cortimiglia, 2014). The study also shows that, the logical production in a firm needs to have knowledgeable employees who also have skills for the fields of marketing, product law enforcements and various regulations. The research suggests that, there are four major critical success factors in the management of innovation which are Knowledge of market sustainability, interfunctional collaboration, RnD investments and implication and innovation oriented learnings (De Medeiros, Ribeiro Cortimiglia, 2014). There are various steps mentioned in these peer-reviewed articles such as idea generation and mobilization, Experimentation, Knowledge Distribution, Advanced Commercialization, Law and regulation management, Implementation of strategic business process. Mobilization occurs when idea moves to a different physical location (Innovation Process, 2017). Though such strategies are not necessary for all the organization. However, physical existence and mobilization ideas are necessary for some organization who have the core business processes running through various geographical presence (Innovation Process, 2017). Experimentation stages needs to test an idea along with its prototypes to get the detailed knowledge of obstacles and opportunities in the path of implementation of the innovation (Innovation Process, 2017). The experiments can remain in continuous processes and it can evaluate the various branches of the innovation and development for the organization. The experiments with products and services are very much necessary to get updated with the market trends and refine the sustainability of the organization in the market (Innovation Process, 2017). Knowledge distribution is very much necessary for innovation and its idea generation process. The knowledge distribution helps in generating idea not only from the thought process of the management people but from the employees too (Kozlov Groe, 2016). This step helps in implementing the loyalty statement among the employees too. Although the knowledge distribution various from different organization and business fields. The knowledge distribution process consists of the analysis of the internal environment, external environment and the current market trends along with the competitors strategies (Kozlov Groe, 2016). However, the knowledge distribution is also important for the startup organization like Engage solutions. According to an article by Hussein and other researchers who have focused on the finding of importance of the knowledge in managing innovation in various organizations (Hussein et al, 2016). The research has found that, Knowledge self-efficacy and top management support have a positive impact on knowledge donating and collecting. Only knowledge collecting, however, had a positive effect on firm innovation capability Thus, the research suggests that, the knowledge has a major role in the management of innovation in the organizations whether it is small like Yabble and Engage Solutions or big market players like Ryman Healthcare Ltd and ANZCO Foods Ltd. The Ryman Healthcare Ltd is contributing and specializing in the field of innovation towards better health care for the people of New Zealand. The organization has evaluated new research processes which enforces the health care system towards the psychological treatments of the patients along with psychological support for the aged persons who use to face various physical and mental obstacles in their crucial phase of life (Ryman Healthcare, 2017). The ANZCO foods is innovating in the firming sectors along with the food processing sectors also. The company has innovated various recipes for their customers along with various internal developments for the better health of the animals in the firm (ANZCO Foods Limited, 2017). The company is operating along with 3000 staffs worldwide and has sales of the amount NZD 1.3 billion. The company procure the best beef by cultivating best farm set ups and focus on designing sophisticated food. The Yabble is specializing the holiday programs and they have started a new market in the economy of New Zealand and they enforces best cultural, education and artistic programs for the kids (Yabble, 2017). The Engage solutions can look to be a typical HR firm but they have innovated various training programs to make people skilled enough for the jobs they do. The company in such way contributing to the employment sector of NZ by enabling people with required skills. Along with that, they are helping the organizations to enhance the skill of their workforce along with the health and safety management (Engage Solutions, 2017). Presently they are working with some middle scale manufacturing organization and other few organization for the training purposes. The research has gone through various aspects regarding the innovation and business management and necessity of various factors in every organization. The research has found that, screening, knowledge management, experiments and idea generation, law enforcements and knowledge, employment policy designing and other various objects are needed in an organization to innovate new business practices for achieving the company goals. The research also suggests the small and large companies as discussed in the research to focus on innovating in more parts of their business to enhance their sustainability in the market.
